Finance your education

There are many scholarships out there for athletic trainers. Check out the ones below to help pay for your master’s degree.

Northern Arizona University Scholarships Accordion Closed

  • Go to Scholarship Universe
  • You will be asked to log in and the computer system will present the scholarships for which you are eligible.

Deadline: Applications open in January for Scholarships available for the upcoming academic year.

NAU AT Student Scholarships Accordion Closed

Michael E Nesbitt Scholarship
  • Awarded to a graduate AT student entering the 2nd year of the MSAT program (Application occurs during 1st year in MSAT program)
  • In order to apply for this scholarship, the applicant must be nominated by a Clinical Preceptor or Faculty Member in the MSAT Program.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Be a graduate student pursuing a career in athletic training
  • Submit a reference list which includes at least 3 certified athletic trainers

Deadline: Nominations due to Lanny Bradford, Director of Sports Medicine by Jan. 15

Michael F. Jarko Memorial Athletic Training Education Scholarship
  • Submit a letter of application that explains:
    • why you’re deserving of this scholarship
    • your career goals
    • your future plans to contribute to the profession nationally or with the state organization
    • what a college education means to you personally.
  • Have a minimum of a 3.30 college GPA
  • Be a first year student in the MSAT program at time of application (scholarship will be awarded for 2nd year in program).
  • Submit two letters of recommendation, both from Certified Athletic Trainers
  • Demonstrate proof of membership in the National Athletic Trainers’ Association
  • Submit letter of application, with GPA, proof of NATA membership, and recommendations to ATEP Program Director in ONE paper document (not electronically)

Deadline: March 1st.

National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) Student Scholarships Accordion Closed

NATA Foundation Scholarships
  • The following Scholarships require membership from the NATA. Become a member After Nov 1.
  • Application open in November and close January 15
  • The NATA provides a number of scholarships, usually for $2,300 each.
Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award
  • The Bobby Gunn Student Leadership Award was created to recognize one of the true pioneers in athletic training and the instrumental role he has played in the profession. It provides a deserving student from each district assistance to attend NATA’s annual convention.

Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainer’s Association (RMATA) Student Scholarships Accordion Closed

  • Visit RMATA Scholarship Webpage
    • scroll down to the Green Box (Scholarships) for application under the picture.
  • Students will need a nominating AT
  • Application are OPEN and closes December 31
  • Five total awards, each $2,000

Deadline: Dec 31st

Arizona Athletic Trainer’s Association (AzATA) Student Scholarships Accordion Closed

Michael E Nesbitt AzATA Student Scholarship
  • The Michael E. Nesbitt Scholarship is a $750 scholarship
    • Awarded to an athletic training student in their final year of a professional Master’s of Athletic Training.
    • The student must demonstrate excellent work ethic, character, leadership qualities, academic achievements, experience, and competency as an athletic training student.
