
{"id":5519,"date":"2022-04-07T06:14:32","date_gmt":"2022-04-07T13:14:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nau.edu\/center-health-equity-research\/?p=5519"},"modified":"2024-07-02T11:04:42","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T18:04:42","slug":"robinson-2022-gold-axe-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/center-community-health-engaged-research\/blog\/robinson-2022-gold-axe-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Robinson to receive NAU\u2019s spring 2022 Gold Axe Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/234\/Bethany-Robinson-closeup-300x200-1.png\" alt=\"Bethany Robinson poses in her graduation attire outside.\" class=\"wp-image-12079\" width=\"374\" height=\"249\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bethany Robinson<\/strong>, a senior year biology undergraduate student in the Northern Arizona University <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/honors\/\">Honors College<\/a>, will receive NAU\u2019s spring 2022 Gold Axe Award in a ceremony on April 12 at the High Country Conference Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ricky Camplain<\/strong>, assistant professor in NAU\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/health-sciences\/\">Department of Health Sciences<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/center-community-health-engaged-research\/\">Center for Community Health and Engaged Research<\/a> is Robinson\u2019s advisor, along with Heather Williamson, assistant professor for the <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/occupational-therapy\/\">Department of Occupational Therapy<\/a> and CHER. Camplain nominated Robinson for the award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am not sure how to put into words the incredible leadership, involvement, commitment, and service Bethany has provided to our NAU community,\u201d Camplain said. \u201cBethany has proven to be an indispensable member of my research team and wish I could keep her on a little longer. I am so excited for Bethany\u2019s bright future and there is no doubt in my mind that she will succeed at everything she puts her mind to.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fall 2022, Robinson will be attending the Arizona College of Pediatric Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Last year, she received the <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/undergraduate-research\/hooper-undergraduate-research-award\/\">Hooper Undergraduate Research Award<\/a> (HURA)\u2014a grant which funded her own research project on the impact of disability on women\u2019s access to physical activity while incarcerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robinson was also the sole awardee of the <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/undergraduate-research\/awards\/\">NAU Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Inquiry<\/a>. She works on projects for both CHER and the <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/sherc\/\">Southwest Health Equity Research Collaborative<\/a> (SHERC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Robinson is from Phoenix and attended Boulder Creek High School in Anthem.
