This workshop was hosted by <strong>Ricky Camplain<\/strong>, PhD, Assistant Professor, NAU Health Sciences, Epidemiologist at the Center for Community Health and Engaged Research, and <strong>Carly Camplain<\/strong>, JD, health policy research.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\">Guest speakers included,<strong> Meghan Peterson<\/strong>, Research Scientist at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine, <strong>Kathryn Nowotny<\/strong>, PhD, Associate Professor of Medical Sociology at the University of Miami, Co-Founder of The Covid Prison Project, <strong>Beya Thayer<\/strong>, Executive Director Yavapai Justice and Mental Health Coalition, <strong>Capt. Richard Martin<\/strong>, Yavapai County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, <strong>Delores Greyeyes<\/strong>, PhD, Management Team Navajo Division of Public Safety, Department of Corrections, and <strong>Matt Figueroa<\/strong>, Jail Commander Coconino County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\">COVID-19 has had a high impact on correc<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun CommentStart SCXW192095216 BCX0\">tional facilities (jails and prisons), and this workshop discussed the impact of COVID-19 on <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\">correctional facilities<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\"> at a local, tribal, and national level and how different players and institutions have attempted to combat COVID-19 through practice and research. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\">Research on COVID-19 at <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\">correctional facilities<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW192095216 BCX0\"> was presented including a summary of responses at different facilities.
