These renowned innovators have left an indelible mark, not only on NAU but on the world, and they all began their journeys as Lumberjacks. This annual award is presented to all inductees Homecoming weekend.

Award description
Northern Arizona University’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) Hall of Fame award recognizes SBS alumni who have made significant contributions in their career, to the university, or to their community. These change-makers are aligned with NAU’s mission, vision and core values; and are making positive impacts to society. The Hall of Fame award is presented to inductees each year during Homecoming.
Award qualifications
- A graduate of NAU’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
- Outstanding success in his/her/their professional career and/or service to the university or community.
- Nominee aligns with NAU’s mission, vision, and core values; and is proud to be a Lumberjack.

Nominations are open year-round but to make the nomination deadline for 2025 please submit your nomination by March 1, 2025.
2025 Honored Alumni & Hall of Fame
A Homecoming tradition, the Honored Alumni and Hall of Fame Ceremony celebrates alumni who have demonstrated excellence in their careers and extraordinary dedication to the university through leadership, vision, creativity, generosity, and increasing NAU’s reputation and impact in the larger community.
The 2025 Honored Alumni and Hall of Fame ceremony takes place during Homecoming Weekend on Friday, November 7, 2025. Read more about the award winners below, and nominate a deserving Lumberjack for next year’s awards.
2025 President’s Alumni Award
Mitchell Ettinger is a retired partner and former office leader at the international law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he practiced for more than 25 years in government enforcement, white collar crime, and complex litigation. A U.S. Air Force veteran and former chief prosecutor in England, he built a distinguished career representing corporations and individuals in high-profile cases, from trademark disputes to False Claims Act defense. An engaged NAU alumnus, he serves on the SBS Dean’s Council, mentors students, guest lectures, and—together with his wife, Carrie, ’80—established the Gerald Ladhoff Scholarship in honor of his late NAU professor and mentor.

Christine Schneikart-Luebbe
1984 BS Public Relations, 1986 MAED Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Christine Schneikart-Luebbe built a distinguished career in student affairs and enrollment management, serving in leadership roles at institutions across the country—including Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success at Newman University and Dean of Students at Indiana University and Wichita State. With a passion for student engagement, she has led initiatives in academic advising, orientation, diversity, and holistic student success. Her commitment to students began at NAU, where she earned degrees in journalism and educational psychology and served as ASNAU Student Body President. She later returned to NAU as a staff member and continues to stay deeply connected through lifelong friendships, alumni board service, and a proud family legacy. Her husband is also a Lumberjack, and their son recently studied at NAU through the National Student Exchange program. For Schneikart-Luebbe, NAU has always represented purpose, community, and possibility.
