When and where

Commencement will take place on Friday, December 12, 2025 in the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome. Please check the website regularly for updates. Frequently asked questions can be answered at the bottom of this page.

Frequently asked questions

You are automatically assigned a commencement ceremony based on your college. To find your college, login to your LOUIE account and select “My Academics”. If your college is listed as “Provost Office”, you will participate with NAU Yuma. The schedule for the 2025-2026 school year is below:

  • Graduates must RSVP through Tassel to attend commencement.
    • Check your NAU email for emails from noreply@commencement.nau.edu for more information – beginning in September for fall ceremonies, February for spring ceremonies.
    • Graduates will receive their own unique ticket for entry called a “Stage Pass” the week of commencement.
  • Guest tickets are only required for the spring (May) commencement ceremonies.
    • Only graduates can request guest tickets through the Tassel RSVP form
    • There are no guest tickets available at the door.
    • Children 4 and older need a ticket.
    • Tickets are all free.
    • Grads guaranteed 4 tickets and can request as many additional tickets as they need for their guests.
    • Selling of tickets is prohibited and will result in disciplinary action.

  • Parking is free on campus for Commencement.
  • Complimentary shuttles will take you to and from the San Francisco Parking Garage / Lot P62 and the Skydome.
  • Parking and directions

  • Graduates will be sent an email the Monday of commencement week with all the below information.
    • Graduates are asked to arrive at least one hour prior to the ceremony start time. Doors will open for guests and graduates 90 minutes before the ceremony starts.
    • Graduates will enter through the West Entrance of the Skydome. Please have your regalia OFF and draped over your arm to go through security, and have your Stage Pass ready to show on your phone or printed.
    • After you enter, use the North staircase or elevator to make your way down to the floor to find your seat. College representatives will assist you with finding where to sit.
      • When you arrive to your seat, you will fill out a name reader card with how you’d like your name read as you cross the stage, as well as the phonetic pronunciation of your name. Learn more about phonetic pronunciation here.
      • You will take your name reader card and all personal belongings with you when you go to cross the stage – so please leave large coats, bags, etc. with your guests.

  • Graduates

      • Undergraduates: cap and gown
      • Graduates: cap, gown, hood
    • Guests
      • Each guest 4 years old and older needs their own ticket. (Spring ceremonies only)
      • Gifts for your graduate! Purchase ahead of time:
      • Everyone: Clear bags!

  • Commencement: University-wide graduation ceremony where names are read as you cross the stage and degrees are conferred.
  • Commissioning: Refers to ceremonies for military officer commissioning, held by ROTC programs.
  • Convocation: Smaller, specialized ceremonies to honor specific groups of students.
  • Other special events: Colleges and academic departments often host smaller reception-style celebrations to honor graduating students in a particular department or major.
