Film Screening & WGA Nomination

Fresh home from the Writers Guild of America award ceremony, Associate Professor of Practice Bill Carter attended a screening of the film “Kiss the Future” on Tuesday in Cline Library.  Carter wrote the screenplay for the documentary, and was one of four nominees for the WGA award for best documentary screenplay. Recent Publication

Professor Laura Camden recently had a review published in “The Journal of Amish and Plain Anabaptist Studies.” It was a review of the re-released photography book “The Mennonites” by Magnum photographer Larry Towell. Towell is a legend in the documentary photography and photojournalism field. Towell’s work inspired Camden’s own work in her book “Mennonites in Texas: The Quiet in the Land” published in 2006. Student in the News

Ryan Binkley, an MA student and public speaking GTA, completed his degree last spring. His thesis was titled “Cute and Cuddly Criminals: Colonialism, Consumerism, and the Mass Ornament in Animal Crossings: New Horizons.” A reporter from KJZZ, the Phoenix NPR radio affiliate, interviewed Ryan about his research. The interview recently aired on KJZZ’s weekday news program. Click this link to hear the interview.

James Byrkit Visit

On February 11, NAU Visual Communication alumnus, James Byrkit will visit campus. Byrkit is a seasoned Hollywood storyboard artist, writer, director, and producer, and he’s eager to share is experience and wisdom with NAU students. Among his many accomplishments Byrkit was the storyboard artist for the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. Heading to the Super Bowl

Rory Faust, with students Reese Clarke, Connor Emery, Ashley Hinchy, Ava Nichols, and Makayla Richardson are in New Orleans for the Super Bowl this week. They will be there producing 2 shows to kick off the NAZ Today broadcast season as well as content for the sports based broadcast, the OT.
