James Byrkit Visit

Posted by Austin on February 7, 2025

On February 11, NAU Visual Communication alumnus, James Byrkit will visit campus. Byrkit is a seasoned Hollywood storyboard artist, writer, director, and producer, and he’s eager to share is experience and wisdom with NAU students. Among his many accomplishments Byrkit was the storyboard artist for the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films. He worked on the films “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and “Baby Driver.” He was co-creator of the Oscar-winning animated film Rango, and he was writer and director of the sci-fi mystery film “Coherence”,  which is now a cult classic. Byrkit will be on campus Monday May 10 in Comm Room 240 to discuss his work with the Animation Club, and Tuesday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the Cline Library auditorium for a screening of “Coherence,” followed by a discussion with Byrkit regarding the making of the film. This event will be open to all of NAU and the Flagstaff community.
