Degree Completion (BSDHDCP) Accordion Closed

The Dental Hygiene Completion Program is tailored for individuals currently on a waiting list for Dental Hygiene School, those enrolled in Dental Hygiene School, or practicing professionals who have completed their studies as registered dental hygienists at a regionally accredited institution. This program offers the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene.
Key Features:
  • Fully Online: This program is entirely online, requiring no campus visits or clinical components.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Students can complete coursework at their convenience, without a set timeline. Participants may begin the program while enrolled in a Hygiene Program, after graduation, or even after taking a break.
  • The duration of the program varies based on individual circumstances, including your personal goals, work schedule, and home life, as well as the pathway you select. Generally, a conservative estimate for completion is approximately two years. However, some students have successfully completed the program in a shorter timeframe by taking more classes, while others may take three years or longer.
  • Our program is entirely online, making it ideal for working Registered Dental Hygienists (RDHs) and students alike. There are no campus visits required, and coursework is conducted through Canvas, a user-friendly platform that is easily accessible.
Additional Coursework: Depending on individual academic backgrounds, some students may need to complete additional courses to fulfill specific university requirements. Following a review of transcripts by an academic advisor, students will receive guidance on any necessary additional coursework. Students can also save on costs by taking equivalent courses at local community colleges, which can be transferred to Northern Arizona University (NAU). Transfer Credits: The program allows for the transfer of up to 90 credits to NAU, after which students will complete 30 credits to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. For those who do not have 90 transferable credits, up to 26 non-traditional credits may be awarded for graduating from a CODA-accredited institution. The 30 credits will include 21 Core Dental Hygiene Courses and 9 Upper Division Liberal Studies Courses.

Transfer Credits & Non-traditional Credits Accordion Closed

One of the key advantages of applying to our program is the opportunity to earn non-traditional credits. If you transfer to Northern Arizona University (NAU) with fewer than 90 credits, we can assess your state licensure to potentially award non-traditional credits. You may be eligible for up to 26 credit hours at no cost to you. The total number of credits you need to complete at NAU will depend on the transfer credits you receive from your previous coursework, as well as the remaining credits required. To fulfill the degree requirements, you must complete a minimum of 30 credits of upper-division coursework, which typically consists of 10 three-credit hour courses, totaling 120 credits overall.
