In this course, you will develop an understanding of financial and managerial accounting from a user’s perspective, learn to prepare financial reports, and analyze and
appropriately use financial information to inform business decisions. Students will develop problem identification, analytic, and decision-making skills through application of accounting concepts to applied business problems.

This course focuses on several areas of substantive commercial law relevant to business managers. It is designed to foster your ability to recognize legal and ethical issues and their managerial implications so as to minimize the frequency and expense of legal conflict and litigation. You will learn to discern the distinction between what is legal, what is ethical, and what is in the best interests of the organization and its stakeholders. Moreover, this course examines the role and impact of corporate governance, as learners will examine and evaluate approaches to enhance corporate accountability, foster an ethical work environment, ensure legal compliance, and provide effective leadership in an organization.

This course introduces a systems-based thinking perspective on personal branding and development efforts. It utilizes an innovative teams-based approach, allowing students to develop short- and long-term professional objectives and goals.

As an introduction to the role of financial and managerial accounting, this course helps learners understand how corporate financial statements are constructed from economic events. Learners will use financial statements to evaluate corporate performance and financial position. It also addresses important organizational issues such as understanding the use of product costing, management control, and performance evaluation to analyze, inform, and successfully implement business decisions.

This case-intensive course is designed to help students develop the necessary skills for leading others in organizational settings. Students will practice the development of leadership action plans.

This course examines theories and frameworks that help learners in the formulation and implementation of business and corporate strategies, challenges associated with strategic management, ethical considerations, and creating appropriate organizational structures for effective decision-making. Learners evaluate strategic business challenges to make high level decisions and determine proper leadership to implement those decisions.

This course provides an overview of the role marketing plays in developing business strategy and operations. It focuses on how to think strategically about an organization’s customer-driven purpose and how to deliver profitable offerings. This requires using customer insights and frameworks to develop and evaluate marketing strategies and tactics.

This course is designed to build the decision-making and technical abilities of learners. Learners will develop and strengthen basic and advanced spreadsheet skills while processing, analyzing, and visualizing data. Learners will obtain and apply modeling and decision-making skills in simulation and analysis projects. This course will provide opportunities for learners to grow in their abilities to make data-driven decisions and to effectively present data to support their decisions.

This course serves the Master of Business Administration degree program as an introduction to the role of processes in an organization. More specifically, it examines the key elements and concepts related to organizational processes and how they are intertwined with an organization’s strategy. Students will develop skills in analyzing and improving processes and be able to explain how processes influence the performance of an organization.

This course helps learners develop a solid knowledge foundation and a set of essential skills for carrying out financial analysis, including cash flow forecasts and making sensible business decisions based on the financial risk-return tradeoff. It uses accounting information and firm-specific information to estimate the value of assets, including equity, debt, project, firm, tax shields, and more. It also investigates alternative financing sources such as leases and hybrid financing.

In this course, learners will use economic tools to understand issues related to business including resource allocation, production and market structure, industry performance, and government policy. It provides you with an introduction to the fundamental concepts of health economics. Topics include the theory of insurance, the organization of healthcare markets, and an economic analysis of provider behavior (e.g. doctors, hospitals, and the pharmaceutical industry).

At the end of the program, students will benefit from an applied project practicum. This practicum is an applied learning opportunity where students work in small teams under faculty guidance to identify, analyze, and solve real problems for real-world clients in the healthcare industry. The sponsoring organizations receive a thorough analysis of the problem, a final presentation, and a report of their findings and recommendations from the students.
