With clean air, sunny days, beautiful night skies, and unlimited outdoor recreation opportunities, Flagstaff is consistently ranked one of the best college towns in America making it the ideal place to learn and grow. Flagstaff is just down the road from major metropolitan areas such as Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Take a virtual tour around our campus today or hear from our very own sponsored students about their NAU experience!

The Center for International Education at NAU is committed to international student success. Our Sponsored Student team in the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) assists sponsors with support, development, advising and placement of sponsored student programs. We are dedicated to maintaining outstanding relationships with all current sponsoring agencies as well as identifying and developing relationships with prospective sponsoring agencies.

Services we provide

Personalized advising Accordion Closed

ISSS serves as the main point of contact linking the student, sponsor and NAU departments (such as Academic Advisors, Student Accounts,etc.). Our Sponsored Student team of advisors are available to advise students  on matters of academics, housing, cultural adjustment, billing information, health or family concerns and other personal issues.

Financial Guarantees Processing and Third Party Billing Services Accordion Closed

Financial Guarantees or Financial Support Letters are required for each sponsored student specifying the cost and terms of the sponsorship. ISSS along with Third Party Billing processes these letters once received from the sponsoring agency or the student. Sponsoring organizations that do not have standardized letters of support or financial guarantees will be provided documentation to submit for each student.

Official Transcripts and Enrollment Verifications Accordion Closed

We understand the importance of tracking academic progress of your sponsored students. Therefore, we send official transcripts and Enrollment Verifications for each student to respective sponsors every semester of enrollment or as requested by the sponsoring agency.

Health Insurance Waiver Accordion Closed

All international students are required to enroll in the NAU Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). However, sponsored students are eligible for a waiver, if equivalent health insurance is provided by their sponsor.

Sponsored student events & programming Accordion Closed

In addition to international student programming offered by the ISSS and other departments on campus, we provide specialized orientation sessions and online modules for our sponsored students.

Other specialized services upon request Accordion Closed
