Path to the Presidency Exhibit

Path to the American Presidency: Road to the White House

Historical and Political Campaign Memorabilia from the Museum of Democracy Wright Family Collection

Through July 31, 2025

Explore the rich and fascinating history of American presidential campaigns through compelling artifacts left behind – from America’s earliest campaign buttons, which were made to promote George Washington’s inauguration in 1789, to buttons, banners and other paraphernalia for the 2024 presidential election.

The memorabilia of election cycles past and present demonstrates how campaigns and campaign strategy have evolved in their quest to woo potential voters, establish their brands and get their messages out.

This exhibition is supported by Arizona Board of Regents as a civic education program designed to foster knowledge of the American presidencies and presidential elections among undergraduate students, high school students, and the broader community.

Access the companion audio guide to learn more about objects in the exhibition.

TIMBER! Northern Arizona's Logging Legacy

TIMBER! Northern Arizona’s Logging Legacy

Through July 2, 2025

Northern Arizona is home to the world’s largest continuous stand of ponderosa pine forest, and the import and impact of its valuable timber is deeply woven into the region’s history.

Now visitors to a new exhibit can trace the story of the region’s forests, from the ancestral environmental care practices of the region’s Indigenous communities to the founding of the Northern Arizona University (NAU) School of Forestry in 1958.

TIMBER! Northern Arizona’s Logging Legacy provides a visual story of more than 100 years of lumber and timber history and its impact on the communities of the greater Flagstaff area. It is now on display in Cline Library Special Collections and Archives (SCA) and online.  SCA houses numerous collections related to the history of northern Arizona’s forests; these collections are available to the public for research.
