Information Resources on Race, Diversity, and Inclusion

In support of education and learning related to critical race, diversity, and inclusion issues, Cline Library invites you to explore our collections and other resources we have found that provide deeper insights and understanding on current issues facing society today. We recognize there is a wealth of information available to explore on race, diversity, and inclusion and encourage you to do so.

Some of the recent resources we have discovered include book recommendations from library staff, films in the library’s online streaming subscriptions, and other resources through the NAU Office of Inclusion.

Books:  Pureland by Annette McGivney, Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander, Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the roots of Black travel in America by Candacy Taylor.

We will continue to post new book recommendations on the library’s Facebook page.

Find videos in the library’s collections such as Langston Hughes performance of “The Weary Blues” (licensed content) which offers insight into the beauty of black art and specifically speaks to the suffering and injustice of blacks in American during the early 1920’s Harlem.  You’ll find more films on race and diversity in resources like Films on Demand and Filmmakers Library Online.  Both of these are available through the library’s database lists.

The NAU Office of Inclusion is a wonderful resource to contact for more information and training suggestions.

There are numerous resources and collections on racism in America, diversity and inclusion, and LGBTQIA topics.  Search, explore, and learn. Have more questions about what is available or how to find a specific resource?  Contact our Ask Us! service for assistance.
