Statistics, Minor

The minor in statistics is a natural companion to many fields, Students in this minor deepen their statistical knowledge and gain proficiency in methods, analysis and interpretation of results.

  • A minor is earned in conjunction with a bachelor's degree.

    To receive a minor (18 - 24 units) at Northern Arizona University, you must complete a planned group of courses from one or more subject matter areas with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0. At least 12 units of the minor must be unique to that minor and not applied to any other minor.

  • Take the following 18 units with a Grade of 'C' or better:

    • Select from the following (3 units):
      • STA 270, STA 275
    • STA 371, STA 471, STA 477 (9 units)
    • Select from the following (6 units):
      • MAT 480
      • STA 473, STA 474, STA 571, STA 572, STA 574, STA 575, STA 578

    A Mathematics BS major may earn a Statistics Minor, but at least 9 of the units in the minor must be courses that are not used to fulfill the student's Mathematics Major requirements.
