  1. Why did you choose NAU and what did you like about it?
    • The perfect location to enjoy outdoor activities and all four seasons while attending an accredited engineering program with opportunities for graduate school.
    • Being able to step outside after a full week of learning and go hiking or camping, enjoying the Flagstaff community, and finding your niche.
    • Ability to join research labs as an undergrad to gain real hands-on experience for industry or jumpstart research for graduate school.

  1. How did your program at NAU prepare you for your career goals and your dream job?
    • The rigorous curriculum combined with hands-on learning through projects and lab work provided a complete learning experience.
    • An environment where education and research opportunities were prioritized with small class sizes and close relationships with the professors was key in meeting career goals.

  1. Can you describe your research or a specific project that had a significant impact on your learning?
    • Courses like solid mechanics, fluid dynamics, and hands-on projects both in research labs and undergraduate courses combined with professor office hours was critical for succeeding.
    • Opportunity to work in the DASL Research Lab with additional NASA internships to gain more experience and hands-on research, broadening my engineering understanding, and allowing me to apply engineering skills learned in school.

  1. What skills did you develop during your studies, and how did your professors or mentors influence your academic journey?
    • Learning communication and critical thinking skills throughout the program in interdisciplinary teams was essential in preparing for work after college.
    • The professors’ willingness to help every student and their devotion to education provided a perfect atmosphere for success.

  1. Would you recommend this program to others, and what advice would you give to prospective students?
    • I would highly recommend the program. Get to know your professors as they are a great resource and get involved in extracurricular activities within the engineering department – engineering clubs, research labs, etc.
    • Engineering is hard and there will be struggles. There will be subjects to enjoy and ones that are disliked but with ample amount of opportunities to learn and the development of skills for work after college, the program was excellent.
