Classical guitar audition repertoire

Undergraduate audition requirements

• A work for solo classical guitar demonstrating an understanding of right and left hand technique. This can include concert works or etudes.
• If interested in jazz, the student should also prepare at least 2 jazz standards, and be able to play the melody, an improvised solo, and chord accompaniment.

Graduate audition requirements

• 2 contrasting works for solo classical guitar that demonstrate an advanced knowledge of classical guitar technique and repertoire. Preferably, these pieces should represent 2 distinct historical styles. (Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic, Contemporary).
• If interested in jazz, the student should also prepare at least 2 jazz standards, and be able to play the melody, an improvised solo, and chord accompaniment.
