Richard Wood Professorship

The Richard Wood Professorship for the Teaching of Philosophy is an endowed faculty teaching position within the Department of Philosophy honoring the influence of Dick Wood, a well loved and respected teacher of philosophy in the department for more than 25 years. Alumni of the department were a driving force in generating an endowment whose annual proceeds fund student activity in and beyond the classroom each year. These activities include the Wood Professorship Lecture series, the Mentoring Program, and the student e-zine, Zetetikon, in addition to a host of other smaller events and activities.

The Wood Professorship is held by Associate Professor Julie Piering, whose outstanding teaching and boundless energy have captivated, inspired and educated students throughout her tenure as the Wood Professor.
