Michele Lee Earns Prestigious CSW Award

Posted by admin on March 31, 2019

Michele Lee, a second-year student in the Master of Arts in Psychology Sciences degree program was selected for the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Outstanding Achievement and Contribution Award in the Student category.  This award honors a Northern Arizona University student who has made outstanding contributions to women’s leadership development and towards advancing the status of women at Northern Arizona University.Photograph of award winner, Michele Lee.

Michele has worked with the Commission on the Status of Women since fall of 2018 where she has volunteered her time running the Exit Interview subcommittee and gathered information related to pay equity to build an annual report for use by university administration. Michele’s time spent volunteering with CSW stems from her commitment to better understand how to advance women in higher education. Michele’s thesis also aligns with the values of CSW. Michele is examining the role of gender in scholarly collaborations in industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. After her thesis is completed, Michele hopes to provide input to the Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology (SIOP) regarding approaches to identifying and removing barriers to academic success for women in the field.

Michele will be presented with the award at the President’s Annual Diversity and Equity Awards Reception on Wednesday, May 2, 2019.
