“Developing a Plan for Postpartum Period (PP) Care for Women in Northern Arizona (Emphasis on Rural and Underserved Women)”

NAU Lead Academic Partners: Beth McManis, PhD, CNM, MS, Assistant Professor, College of Nursing

Community Partner: Joyce Garcia-Gonzalez, CNM, Certified Nurse, North Country Healthcare

Goal of Partnership: Develop a plan, with an emphasis on rural and underserved women, for ongoing postpartum period care at North Country Healthcare that concludes with a smooth transition from maternity care back to primary care.


 “Exploring Environmental-Related Health Equity Research Opportunities between Cocopah Tribe and Northern Arizona University”

NAU Lead Academic Partner: Frank von Hippel, PhD, Professor, Department of Biological Sciences

Community Partner: Elizabeth Benitez, MGBA, Tribal Administrator, Cocopah Tribe

Goal of Partnership: Identify Cocopah areas of concern in environmental health associated with pesticide and toxic metal exposures to inform development of potential research to address those concerns.
