Indrakshi Roy named NAU assistant research professor

Posted by ld583 on January 20, 2023

Congratulations to Indrakshi Roy who was recently named an assistant research professor for the Northern Arizona University Department of Health Sciences and for the Center for Community Health and Engaged Research (CHER). Roy’s professional interests are ingerontology, health disparities, health services research, health economics, health policy implications and healthy aging. She has been at CHER for three years as a biostatistician.

“I feel fortunate to be working as an assistant research professor at NAU,” Roy said. “I have always really enjoyed health services research and working with large datasets. It gives me the opportunity to learn something new every day and I look forward to contributing to the academic community.”

Roy received her doctorate in economics–health economics from Wayne State University with her dissertation on “The Changing Status of Employer-Sponsored Fringe Benefits in the U.S. for Adults Nearing Retirement.” She also earned her Master of Arts in Economics from the same university and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calcutta in Economics with a minor in mathematics and statistics.

During winter break, Roy married Raghvendra Singh (Ragh). They met here at NAU when Ragh used to work at the Center for International Education. They got married on December 4 in Kolkata, India, in the presence of their family and friends.
