Social Work Simulation Lab
Bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application is critical for preparing social work students to meet the complex needs of diverse individuals, families, and communities, so that they are immediately “career ready” upon graduation.
The Simulation Lab provides BSW and MSW students with opportunities to practice key skills
- client engagement and rapport-building
- mental health assessment and diagnosis
- crisis intervention, with expert faculty supervision and feedback
- a wide variety of client populations and scenarios
The simulation environment will recreate
- individual- and group-based clinical settings
- client living spaces (i.e., studio apartment)
In the Social Work Simulation Lab, MSW and BSW students learn from social work encounters with simulated clients portrayed by NAU Department of Theater students and paid community actors.
