FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — In Flagstaff, alumna Lynn Begay, MSW, is making a lasting impact through her work at Northern Arizona Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in northern Arizona. The system includes Flagstaff Medical Center, the only state-certified Level I Trauma Center north of Phoenix, and Verde Valley Medical Center. Together, these facilities serve more than 700,000 residents and over a million visitors each year traveling to destinations such as the Grand Canyon and Sedona.
Lynn earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from Northern Arizona University before completing her Master of Social Work at Arizona State University. Her professional background includes clinical social work in hospital settings, child welfare, behavioral health, and teaching coursework for the School of Social Work at NAU.
For more than five years, Lynn has served as a Clinical Social Worker with Northern Arizona Healthcare. In her role, she provides support, education, and psychotherapy to patients facing complex social and medical challenges. Her work addresses critical issues such as substance use, domestic violence, trauma, and adjusting to new medical diagnoses. She collaborates closely with interdisciplinary medical teams and community partners to ensure patients receive coordinated, compassionate care that extends beyond hospital walls.
Lynn also mentors Master’s level social work interns from the NAU School of Social Work who are exploring hospital-based practice. She is committed to strengthening their clinical skills, building confidence, and helping them identify professional goals, investing in the next generation of social workers who will continue serving the Northern Arizona area.
Through her leadership, mentorship, and dedication to patient-centered care, Lynn Begay exemplifies the spirit of service and community impact that defines our alumni network.
