Congratulations, Dr. Finch!

Dr. Finch was unanimously elected as the Department of Sociology’s new Undergraduate Coordinator.  In her new position, she will be chairing our Undergraduate Curriculum and Assessment Committee, which works to coordinate our B.S. degree and Sociology Minor.

Dr. Jielu Lin’s article “Inter-Individual Variability in Trajectories of Functional Limitations by Race/Gender” was recently published in The Journals of Gerontology, Series B.

Dr. Janine Schipper’s book Teaching with Compassion: An Educator’s Oath to Teach from the Heart was recently features by Greater Good Magazine’s list of favorite books for educators in 2018.

Congratulations Dr. Luna!

Dr. Yvonne Luna was the 2018 recipient of the Dr. Alfredo G. de los Santos, Jr. Outstanding Latino/Latina Faculty Service/Teaching in Higher Education Award from the Pete. C. Garcia Victoria Foundation. Her award was sponsored the Arizona Diamondbacks. Dr. Luna was recognized for her commitment to student achievement and her outstanding and innovative pedagogy and leadership.

Welcome Dr. Jessie Finch, Dr. Jielu Lin, and Dr. Katsuya Oi!

Join us in welcoming three new full-time faculty members in Fall 2018!

Dr. Jessie Finch joins us as a Lecturer in Sociology.  She completed her PhD at the University of Arizona and was formerly Assistant Professor in Sociology at Stockton University in New Jersey.

Dr. Jeilu Lin joins us as Assistant Professor in Sociology.  She completed her PhD at Case Western University as well a Post-Doctoral Fellowship with the National Institutes of Health.
