Finals Tips & Tricks from the Mentors!

Posted by Leslie Mitchell on November 16, 2020

Finals are here!

You have worked hard this whole semester – when it’s all over – give yourself a pat on the back or a mental high five for finishing the Fall 20 semester!

Here are some tips and tricks from our staff to help you:

Giselle: Make a calendar or sticky notes for all of your final projects, be aware of your current grades and confirm the date and time of your final exam if you have one.

Leslie: Make sure you take breaks – but don’t go down the phone/app/Netflix rabbit hole for too long.  Besides, you will have all of the holiday break to get caught up on your favorites.

Jeanine: Find a new location to study at. somewhere you wouldn’t typically go to study at throughout the semester.

Cat: Flashcards or Quizlet is the best way to remember things.

Anna: Make sure to let your body sleep enough!

Kathlyne: Make sure to eat properly and not just snacks. Food helps the brain!

Ryan: Have someone else quiz you on content, and go back to review missed questions. that way there’s no giving into peaking at the answers.

Sabrina: Take breaks to relax in between sessions to avoid burn out.

Eryn: Study in different environments like the library, coffee shops, outside or with friends.

Ethan: Create study groups. Incorporate studying for finals in everyday activities with friends.

Bre: Don’t listen to music that you will get distracted by!

Riley: Coffee!! & a quiet place to focus.

Gavin: I like to think about the rule of diminishing returns so if you feel yourself not making any progress that means it’s time for a break.

Courtney: Chew gum while studying and then chew the same type of gum during the test.

Kaelen: The best thing you can do with studying is just put your textbook on your phone and read it anytime you have any free time.
