Transfer Jacks Mentors’ Tips and Tricks for Finals

Posted by tas333 on December 7, 2022

Written by Jeanine Horio, Transfer Jacks Peer Mentor

Finals Week is right around the corner. We know it can be a stressful time, but we want you to know that you are doing GREAT! Here’s some tips and tricks to conquering your finals from our Transfer Jacks Mentors.

Kelsei: Take breaks while studying and make sure to eat carbs plus stay hydrated! Put on a good playlist that will keep you motivated, but not distracted. Take a group of friends and find a dedicated study place that’s not in your room! Most importantly be kind to yourself and breathe, it will be okay!

Yendira: Don’t be afraid to ask for help or need clarification. The right music can make your study sessions both more enjoyable and more effective. Believe in yourself. 🙂

Jeanine: Find a new place to study to allow for less easily accessible distractions. Also remember to take care of yourself during this stressful time!

Tiffany: Pretend that your exam is earlier, so you feel the need to study earlier and use the pomodoro timer to study!

Cora: Study one chapter a day and give yourself 3 days to test yourself on all chapters

Ashli: Utilize review sessions and study guides and split up all the things you want/need to study over the course of reading week 🙂

Jennie: Have your favorite music, drink, and snack, plus a quiet or semi-quiet environment to study in that’s not your bedroom.

Leah: Schedule out your studying and set time for breaks so that you don’t overwhelm yourself. Get really good sleep the night before your finals and make sure you know what time your final is at if it’s in person.

Lily: Studying is important, but self-care is more important!! Make sure to take time for yourself to rest 🙂

Jennifer: Make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Your brain needs sleep to function and there’s no point cramming in studying when deficiency in sleep. Make sure to eat well for energy. Also don’t stress too much; you got this!

Leilei: Study in increments rather than cramming, even if you study for as little as 15 minutes a day, incorporating the information into your daily routine can make you more confident and prepared in a more efficient manner

Kalie: Occasionally stop for a minute and take a breath. Eat a snack. Take care of yourself, your health comes first.
