Misconduct in Research

As a community of scholars devoted to the creation of knowledge, Northern Arizona University has an affirmative duty to promote ethical behavior while protecting the integrity of its Research activities. To this end, this policy prohibits Research Misconduct, which is comprised of Fabrication, Falsification, and Plagiarism. The University will respond to allegations of Research Misconduct as outlined in this policy’s Procedures for Resolving Allegations of Research Misconduct. All NAU faculty, staff, and students are responsible for maintaining the University’s high standards for ethically conducting all Research and Research reporting activity. All University community members should pay particular attention to ensuring the highest ethical standards when engaged in Research that involves human subjects or animals. The University will protect the positions and reputations of good faith reporters of suspected Research Misconduct and those who participate in related investigative and adjudicatory processes or proceedings.
