IHD’s New PATHS Project Invites Parents to Join Advisory Board

IHD has a new project that will support parents with intellectual disabilities by enhancing home visiting programs across Arizona. Home visiting programs serve families of young children by providing information about child development, parenting, and community resources. The project is titled “PATHS: Providing Accessible Training and Home Support for Parents with Intellectual Disabilities (ID).”

One aspect of this project involves creating an advisory board made up of parents in the community who have intellectual disabilities. The advisory board will help the PATHS Project gain an understanding of the parents’ experiences, including what types of supports are helpful and what supports are needed but not readily available.

We are issuing an invitation to parents with intellectual disabilities to join our advisory board. Participants will be compensated up to $400 and can attend meetings virtually. To participate, parents do not need to have children enrolled in any home visiting programs. We anticipate that the advisory board will meet twice for about two hours.

If you know of any parents who might be interested, please share this flyer with them and reach out to either Sara Clancey (sara.clancey@nau.edu) or Erika Capizzi (erika.capizzi@nau.edu). Their voices are extremely important to us in helping get this project off the ground!
