Students living on campus are encouraged to obtain renters insurance and are actually one of the largest groups using this type of insurance.

Students can purchase a policy while living on campus and should confirm with their insurance agent what is covered. If the student is a dependent under a parent’s policy, coverage may not extend to on‑campus housing, so parents should review their policy or consult their agent for details.

What can renters insurance do for you?

  • Protect personal items such as a computers, bicycles, or furniture against damage, loss or theft
  • Protects you in case someone is injured while in your place of residence
  • Protects personal belongings in case of disaster
