Thank you for your interest in a student employment position with Campus Living! Northern Arizona University offers an exciting opportunity for those seeking a comprehensive and valuable experience in housing and student affairs. These positions serve a critical role in supporting students in advancing our mission and foundational value areas. Job descriptions can be found through the Employment Portal through the external link on Handshake.

How to Apply

Most Campus Living student employment applications will open the week of October 20, 2025 for the 2026 – 2027 academic year. Follow the link on the right side of the page to lead you to handshake. Once in handshake, search “NAU Campus Living” to find our open job positions, and click on the external application link.

Please note that our deadline, for new applicants, is November 20, 2025. You are completing a general application that covers multiple roles within Campus Living. All applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by mid-January 2026. If you are invited to interview, you’ll be asked to indicate which specific roles you’re interested in and would like to interview for.

For returning student employees, you will receive an email in late Fall with the dates you need to submit the returning employee application.

We encourage you to use our campus partners at Career Development and the Lumberjack Writing Center to assist with your application materials and written responses.

Student Employment Positions

Campus Living Community Assistant (CA) Accordion Closed

The Campus Living Community Assistant (referred to as CA) is an academic-year live-in student leadership position primarily focused on helping students enjoy a positive campus living experience that reflects our departmental mission and foundational value areas. The CA is an upper-division student who plays a critical role in creating an inclusive environment where students develop independence while learning to live cooperatively with others. The CA is responsible for connecting with 38 community members on average in a designated floor or area of a campus living community.

Campus Living Facilities Assistant (CLFA) Accordion Closed

Campus Living Facility Assistants represent NAU and Campus Living through extensive customer service. CLFA’s work independently and small teams with minimal supervision in specialized assignment, requiring developed skills, specialized training, and safe practices. We offer part-time employment during the academic year with some self-scheduling and flexible hours.

All students in this position will be cross-trained in all tasks; all necessary training is provided. This is a physical labor position that includes lifting, moving, cleaning, etc. You will be asked to complete any/all of the outlined tasks and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation throughout the academic year.

Campus Living Initiatives and Partnerships Peer Supporter (CLIPPS) Accordion Closed

The Campus Living Initiatives and Partnership (CLIP) Peer Supporter is an academic-year student position focused primarily on providing on-site academic and career resources and support to residents in our campus living communities. CLIPPS help students utilize academic resources, build strong study habits, explore majors, attend career events, search and apply for jobs, and benefit from a supported academic transition to and through college.

In partnership with Athletics, University Advising, Career Development, Office of Inclusion, First Year Experience, Health Promotions, and other campus offices, CLIPPS bring resources and support on-site in our campus living communities in direct support of our departmental mission and foundational values . Reporting directly to a CLIP Graduate Assistant, and indirectly to a CLIP Coordinator, each CLIPPS promotes our foundational value areas to support key initiatives and campus resource/academic college partnerships. Additionally, CLIPPS share work as a team to support emerging and/or complex departmental/university initiatives.

Campus Living Operations Assistant (CLOA) Accordion Closed

The Campus Living Operations Assistant (CLOA) is a 15-20 hour per week student position focused primarily on facilitating housing operations, business processes, and services that support prospective, incoming and current students, families and guests. Each CLOA manages operations of a front desk located in a Campus Living Community (CLC), Campus Living Resource Center (CLRC), or the Campus Living main office. CLOAs work collaboratively with CAs, CLIPPS, and the housing operations team. CLOAs facilitate additional campus living operations including student communications, room key and resource management, term transition tasks, and department representation at NAU Admissions events.

Campus Living Student Photographer/Videographer Accordion Closed

As a student photographer and videographer you will work with your supervisor and other students on creating compelling and professional visual communication materials that are used for a variety of recruitment or educational processes within Campus Living. You will take part in conceptualizing, drafting, and finalizing designs; Content curation, drafting, and scheduling social posts on Campus Living social accounts. As part of this role, individuals are expected to learn and explore new skills and creative styles, improve the production quality, and maintain the NAU
brand standards.

Campus Living Student Graphic Designer Accordion Closed

As a student graphic designer and social media coordinator you will work with your supervisor and other students on creating compelling and professional visual communication materials that are used for a variety of recruitment or educational processes within Campus Living. You will take part in conceptualizing, drafting, and finalizing designs; Content curation, drafting, and scheduling social posts on Campus Living social accounts. As part of this role, individuals are expected to learn and explore new skills and creative styles, improve the production quality, and maintain the NAU brand standards.

Graduate Assistantships (GA) Accordion Closed

These positions serve a critical role in supporting students, staff, and the department in advancing our mission and foundational value areas through effective, intentional, and innovative initiatives and campus partnerships. We have 4 distinct graduate service assistantships available to enrolled full-time NAU students. Positions are listed below and applications are submitted in Handshake which include a cover letter, resume, and references. Information will be available in Handshake in late fall for 2026-2027.

  • Community Staffing Assistantship: Campus Living Community Graduate Assistants work directly with Campus Living Community (CLC) Coordinators to supervise a staff of Community Assistants (CA) within an assigned community. The CLC GA helps with the overall management of a CLC consisting of approximately 550-650 community members. With their direct supervisor, CLC GAs assist with community operations, resident engagement, and create an inclusive campus living community for all community members.
  • Initiatives & Partnerships Assistantship: The CLIP GA has a primary focus on a designated foundational value and/or focus housing area. The CLIP GA directly supervises a team of 3-6 CLIP Peer Supporters (CLIPPS) to provide a synergistic living experience connecting community, wellness, academic and career porupose resources within the campus living communities. The CLIP GA role also has a primary partnership that can focus on advising student organizations, teaching NAU 100, serving on wellness coalitions, and/or working with focused housing communities.
  • Operations Assistantship: The CLO GA supervises Campus Living Operations Assistants (CLOAs) and manages our year-round front desk services at each of our 17 campus living communities. The CLO GA supervises 6-11 CLOAs to ensure processes for scheduling, auditing keys, managing mail, and resource allocation are efficient and smooth. The CLO GA supports effective and intentional operational processes and programs.
  • Facilities Assistantship: The Facilities GA supervises 15-25 Campus Living Facility Assistants (CLFAs), develops and manages facilities projects, and works with the Campus Living Community Staff and CLIP Staff to implement and promote strategic facilities improvements and processes. The Facilities GA utilizes StarRez, Shiftboard, WebTMA, and other software systems to track facility needs for each of our 17 campus living communities and surrounding areas.

Summer Housing Assistant (SHA) Accordion Closed

Consider spending your summer in Flagstaff in a dynamic and fun position!

Summer on campus feels very different from the academic year. Campus Living serves a variety of populations for the summer months including, but not limited to, NAU students registered for summer and/or fall classes, summer bridge program groups, workshop participants, and summer camps and conference groups from all over the state, country and world. Groups range in size from five participants to nearly 4,000 participants. Some groups stay for just a few days, while other stay on campus for multiple weeks. The diverse size and needs of our summer groups, community members, and guests create a fluid and fluctuating summer schedule. Summer Housing Assistants (SHAs) work as a team in primary housing clusters to manage and staff all of the CLCs that serve summer populations.

The SHA position is a 30-36 hour/week position on average, with a fluctuating weekly schedule including work on evenings, weekends and holidays. The actual number of hours worked per week will vary based on the weekly occupancy and needs of the summer buildings, and can range from 24-40 hours. Summer responsibilities include a high-level of customer service, front desk staffing, building preparation, check-in/check-out of individuals and groups, occupancy transitions, room turnover and cleaning, programming/activities, regular meetings, and on-call responsibilities. Please note that the SHA position includes a significant amount of physical labor including lifting and moving up to 50 lbs., cleaning, vacuuming, sanitizing, etc.

Summer Internships Accordion Closed

Thank you for your interest in a summer intern position with Campus Living! Northern Arizona University offers an exciting opportunity for those seeking a comprehensive and valuable experience in housing and student affairs. The Campus Living Summer Intern is a live-on, project-management-based hourly position working an average of 34 hours/week for a minimum of 6 weeks, reporting directly to a full-time Campus Living staff member.

Each Summer Intern will choose or be assigned 3-4 summer projects and initiatives and participate in the summer professional development program, and will provide on-call responses to student concerns, issues with summer camps and conferences, and emergencies and critical incidents in the campus living communities. Interns will be supervised by a full-time professional Campus Living staff member and will receive project guidance from designated staff within Campus Living for each assigned or chosen project. Projects will span the four areas of the Campus Living department (Operations; Facilities; Staffing; and Initiatives and Partnerships) and present opportunities to partner with key campus offices. Each project will provide 6-10 hours of work per week.

The summer intern team will help plan and implement these projects and initiatives while addressing student development needs and trends, contributing to diversity and inclusive excellence efforts, and supporting the mission and values of Campus Living and the NAU Strategic Roadmap.
